One meter long metal ruler, with as much ash on it as could be sprinkled on top. The ruler, with its millimeter-centimeter-meter scale, is the measuring tool for the countable. The ash comes from the fireplace of my parent’s house, and although its quantity is proportionate to the ruler’s surface, it is uncountable. It is the final product of the warmth of home. With extended arms, careful not to lose the ash, I held out the ruler as long as I could, until I dropped it.
About the light-draw of floating ice crystals
In the Bible the rainbow is the sign of the covenant between Noah and God. In the first Hungarian translation of the Scripture the word rainbow features only in the title of the chapter, in the body of the text the phenomenon is referred to as the arch that was put over the clouds by God. These arches thus can also be read as Halo-phenomena, conveying the message that although there will be rain, the world will not be destroyed by flood.
Halo-phenomena, Seal on the Covenant
Based on the column- and slab crystal alterations that form the cirrus clouds I made a model of the covenant, a crystal-stamp. The stamp is operated by light, displaying the colors of the spectrum. Light is reinterpreted in the same manner as in the case of the floating ice crystals. The plan becomes visible, the grace, that water does not mean a devastating flood anymore.
The prism displayed here is one half of the stamp. It is looking for its ally.
